The Sarawak Rainforest World Music Festival (often abbreviated as RWMF) is a local ethnic music celebration that will bring together all the groups from all over the world. It is an annual three-day music festival celebrating the diversity of world music, held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, with daytime music workshops, cultural displays, craft displays, food stalls, and main-stage evening concerts. The festival features a wide range of performances from traditional music, to world fusion and contemporary world music. During this event, the RMWF attracts great attention from all over the world to watch performances from world musicians who will present music from their country. By the participating local musician talent to this music festival, it is also will introduce local music to the eyes of the world because on that day there are many visitors from all over the world who will be present to watch this biggest music festival with more than 20 performers that performing with their represented Country.
What is the specialty of the Sarawak Rainforest World Music Festival for its location?
The place or location of RMWF is held in a stunning and unique place at Sarawak Cultural Village located in Kuching. The cultural village is located 35 km north of Kuching. The festival takes place among and within the traditional houses of Sarawak’s many tribes and pristine nature of Sarawak’s rainforests. This place is very special because it can introduce the ethnic and culture that is available in Sarawak as well as harmonize with the theme of RMWF which is the celebration of local ethnic music around the world. In addition, tourists around the world can learn about Sarawak as well as enhance the tourism sector in Sarawak during the festival. Among those who will be performing on RWMF2019 are Macka B, Ha Noi Duo, La Chiva Gantiva and Ana Alcaide, Ballet Folcloric de Chile Bafochi and local musicians on this very exciting stage. Macka B is a very influential raggae musician for ethnic music fans and music audiences during his highly anticipated performances as Macka B is one of the “Highlight” musicians during RWMF2019. The influence of Jamaica’s music has spread around the world and almost everybody is familiar with the island’s rafting reggae located in the sub oceanic valley of the West Atlantic Ocean which has the elements of African music that form the basis of Jamaican music. Also, do not forget about local musicians such as At Adau (Sarawak), Darmas (Sabah), Kemada (Sarawak), Stak Bisomu (Sarawak), Suk Binie ‘(Sarawak), Menoa (Sarawak) who will entertain the audience. At the RMWF2019 event there is a 1DRUM.ORG event where popular percussion session for RWMF audience to participate in the evening with theme 1DRUM again this year “EVERYONE CAN DRUM!” which will attract visitors to take part.
